BEATRICE’S TWEETS

“Beatrice Rana possesses an old soul that belies her twenty years, and more than a touch of genius.”
Gramophone Magazine
“An artist one will want to keep an ear on.”
“There’s something of Martha Argerich about the way she combines chunky articulation and sparkling clarity with whimsical touches.”
The Times (London)
“There has been a lot of star-is-born noise around Beatrice Rana, and it might be justified. Teamed with Antonio Pappano and his Accademia di Santa Cecilia orchestra, she is a compelling storyteller: her playing has all the sustained force and perfectly weighted brilliance you could want, but has a glint in its eye, too.”
“In a word? Beatrice Rana is fierce! And not only as a pianist but as a fully developed artist of a stature that belies her tender years… I can’t think of another recent concerto release that, beginning to end, affords greater pleasure.”
“She brought unerring grace to Mozart’s seemingly effortless, melodic inspiration and floated Mozartean figurations with lyric ease. In the slow movement [of the Jeunehomme concerto], which reveals depth of feeling through harmonic experimentation, Rana didn’t make the mistake of overdramatizing. And she demonstrated that the impetuous return to high spirits in the last movement really does belong to the young.”
“Beatrice Rana’s playing shows perfect control, clarity of sound and simple lyricism.”
FonoForum
“A round, full-bodied sound despite distinctly unpretentious playing.”
Bachtrack
“Beatrice Rana is an artist one can now expect great things from.”
Classica (Paris)

“Beatrice Rana’s execution of Schumann’s hugely ambitious and monstrously difficult [Symphonic Etudes] was simply jaw-dropping…. Ms. Rana gave the audience a fascinating reading that was full of moments exhibiting Schumann’s dual music personas for which roles the performer folded herself into perfectly.”
Seen and Heard
“Nézet-Séguin’s invitation to the young Italian pianist, Beatrice Rana, to return to Montréal where she had won first prize in the 2011 Montreal International Musical Competition was inspired. Rana, who won second prize in the 2013 Van Cliburn Competition, is a pianist of powerful personality and musical lucidity. There is in her playing a free-flowing virtuosity that is allied to a richly nuanced sonority and an uncanny sense of atmosphere that make her interpretations both intriguing and memorable. Her playing, especially in the [Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 2]’s three monstrous cadenzas, was by turns haunting and urgent, powerful yet reasoned, the phrasing as convincing as the interpretation’s musical impulsion was irrepressible. Though she captured the work’s mordant sarcasm and percussive quality, it was never at the cost of tonal coherency…. It was indeed a performance of galvanizing energy and brilliance by all concerned.”
