November 2022 Artist Updates from Primo Artists

Itzhak Perlman, violin: On December 4, Chicago Symphony Center presents Itzhak Perlman in his Emmy-winning klezmer show In the Fiddler’s House, joined by some of the world’s finest klezmer musicians. Shortly after, Perlman is joined by esteemed friends Emanuel Ax, Jean-Yves Thibaudet and the Juilliard String Quartet on a much-anticipated Itzhak Perlman and Friends tour to Ann Arbor’s UMS on December 10, Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall on December 12, and New York’s Carnegie Hall on December 14.

Wynton Marsalis, composer: Wynton Marsalis’ Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra receives its U.K. Premiere on November 6 by the London Symphony Orchestra with LSO Principal Tuba Ben Thomson, conducted by André Thomas at London’s Barbican Centre. This concert will be recorded for broadcast on Marquee TV on November 24.

Nicola Benedetti, violin: Nicola Benedetti plays the U.S. Premiere of Sir James MacMillan’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with the Dallas Symphony and Music Director Fabio Luisi at the Meyerson Symphony Center from November 17 to 19.

Seong-Jin Cho, piano: Seong-Jin Cho returns to the States in December for three recitals – from California to the east coast. He is presented on December 8 by Berkeley’s Cal Performances and December 9 by Philharmonic Society of Orange County/Soka Performing Arts Center. His tour culminates in Boston on December 11, presented by Celebrity Series at Jordan Hall.

Dance Lab New York, organization: PR client Dance Lab New York presents their More to the Pointe Lab from November 1-18, 2022 at the Chautauqua Institution. Born out of a desire to support artists exploring gender in ballet, the lab will support three up-and-coming choreographers as they work with a group male, transmasculine, and/or non-binary dancers who train en pointe. 

Eric Ferring, tenor: PR client, tenor Eric Ferring, releases his new album, No Choice but Love: Songs of the LGBTQ+ Community, on November 18, 2022 on Lexicon Classics. Performed with pianist Madeilne he double album highlights diverse LGBTQIA+ stories with works by Ben Moore, Manuel de Falla, Jake Heggie, Francis Poulenc, Ethel Smyth, Jennifer Higdon, Willie Alexander III, Mari Esabel Valverde, Benjamin Britten, and Ricky Ian Gordon.

Jessica Meyer, composer: On November 6, PR client composer and violist Jessica Meyer, performs alongside the Hausmann Quartet in the world premiere of her A Passage between Earth and Sky on board a ship at the San Diego Maritime Museum.

Platoon, artist services company: On Friday, November 4, 2022, PR client Platoon releases the new animated film for composer Mason Bates’ Philharmonia Fantastique: The Making of the Orchestra, a 25-minute concerto for orchestra and animated film described by John Williams “the biggest step forward since Fantasia itself.” The film is directed by seven-time Academy Award-winning sound designer Gary Rydstrom (Titanic) and features the work of Jim Capobianco (Ratatouille, Mary Poppins Returns).The film, celebrating Bates’ unique and magical style intersecting music and technology, features a soundtrack performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Edwin Outwater. On November 11, Platoon releases John Metcalfe’s Carols Without Words, re-imaginings of classic carols recorded in the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

Orion Weiss, piano: On Friday, November 11, 2022, PR client pianist Orion Weiss, releases his new album, Arc II: Ravel, Brahms, Shostakovich, on First Hand Records. Featuring performances of Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Schumann and Chorale Preludes Nos. 10 & 11, and Shostakovich’s Piano Sonata No. 2, Arc II is the second album of a three-part series and strives to understand the varying ways composers comprehend grief, loss, and death.

Seth Parker Woods, cello: PR client, cellist Seth Parker Woods, performs the world premiere of his multimedia concert tour-de-force, Difficult Grace, featuring original choreography and dance by Roderick George, at 92NY’s Kaufmann Concert Hall on Saturday, November 19 2022 at 7:30pm ET. Difficult Grace is a semi-autobiographical exploration of identity; past/present histories and personal growth that draws inspiration from the Great Migration; the historic newspaper, The Chicago Defender; immigration; and the poetry of Kemi Alabi and Dudley Randall. The show will be presented by UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 7:00pm PT.
