WASHINGTON — Itzhak Perlman was amongst the 17 distinguished recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom this year in a ceremony at the White House yesterday, November 24, 2015. President Obama remarked that these awardees are “extraordinary people who have left their mark on politics, entertainment, athletics and the United States itself.” The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the Nation’s highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.
