Itzhak Perlman’s appearance at the 2016 Kennedy Center Honors was broadcast nationwide on Tuesday, December 27th on CBS. In the telecast, Perlman performed “Allegro vivace” of Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 8, in G Major with pianist Yefim Bronfman as a tribute for piano legend Martha Argerich. The 39th Annual Kennedy Center Honors was taped from the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C. and attended by dignitaries including President and Mrs. Barack Obama and President Bill Clinton.

In addition to his musical tribute on stage, Perlman paid Argerich one of his highest compliments: “I’m actually feeling lucky to be living during your lifetime so that we can experience your musicianship, your brilliance, and your poetry.”

Oscar winner Al Pacino, singer-songwriter James Taylor, R&B singer Mavis Staples and members of the rock band The Eagles were the other honorees.
