On December 4th, Itzhak Perlman and the esteemed pianist Yefim Bronfman performed a surprise musical tribute for legendary pianist Martha Argerich. Argerich was being awarded a distinguished Kennedy Center Honor as part of the 2016 Kennedy Center Honors Ceremony, which took place at the Kennedy Center’s Opera House in an event produced by Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss. Perlman and Bronfman performed Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 8 in G, Op. 30 No. 3 “Allegro vivace” for an audience that included President and Mrs. Barack Obama and other Kennedy Center Honorees James Taylor, Al Pacino, Mavis Staples and The Eagles.
The award ceremony will be broadcast on television on December 29th at 9pm ET/8pm CT on CBS.
