Perlman plays the National Anthem at Mets/Yankees game

On Monday, August 1st, Itzhak Perlman — long known for his love of baseball and the New York Mets — played the National Anthem at the Met’s Citi Field Stadium to kick off the famed Subway Series rivalry between New York City’s two Major League Baseball teams: The New York Mets and The New York Yankees. Perlman was introduced by the announcer as “16-time Grammy Award-winning violinist, NY icon and Mets fan, Itzhak Perlman”.

Perlman played the Anthem for a rapt audience of over 30,000 and the fans cheered in enthusiastic response.
