On August 10th, violin virtuoso and BBC Proms regular Nicola Benedetti made a triumphant Proms appearance at London’s Royal Albert Hall as soloist with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in a ravishing performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto. Conductor Kirill Karabits presided over an evening of music all composed in 1945, during the turbulent last months of World War II.

Benedetti will return for her second Proms appearance this season on September 7th in a chamber-music program joined by her trio partners cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and pianist Alexei Grynyuk. These three leading musicians pair Brahms’s Piano Trio No. 1 with Arlene Sierra’s 2013 work Butterflies Remember a Mountain in what will be a stunning performance at London’s Cadogan Hall by the Benedetti-Elschenbroich-Grynyuk Trio.
Later in the month, Benedetti will grace Royal Albert Hall’s stage once more on September 27th with a program of classical music inspired by the spirit of Italy and including seminal works such as Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence. It will also feature the London premiere of a work written specially for Nicola Benedetti and Leonard Elschenbroich by one of the UK’s foremost composers, Mark-Anthony Turnage.
