Gemma New receives glowing review for concert with Dallas Symphony

Principal guest conductor Gemma New led a refreshing program of Walker, Ginastera and Mozart

In her second season with the Dallas Symphony, Gemma New delivers “authority and fine musicianship” in the performance of Alberto Ginastera’s 1965 Harp Concerto, George Walker’s “Lyric for Strings”, and Mozart’s “Prague” symphony.

Her “impressively taut” coordination in Ginastera’s Harp Concerto, and her elegantly shaped “Lyric for Strings” and “Prague” added greatly to the pizzazz and atmosphere of the successful socially distanced performance.

This refreshing performance took place on the Meyerson Symphony Center stage, 40 musicians—many of whom were masked—played for a private audience of 100 lucky subscribers.
