National Symphony Orchestra of Romania to tour America

The National Symphony Orchestra of Romania, led by conductor Cristian Măcelaru, will embark on their first-ever U.S. tour at the start of 2019! The tour will honor the 100th anniversary of the unification of Romania and Transylvania. The orchestra will perform with young Romanian cellist Andrei Ionita, winner of the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition, on 5 concerts and with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra on 2 concerts in New York. No doubt audiences will be in for thrilling performances of major Romantic music performed with unmatched verve by Eastern Europe’s brightest virtuosi. Here are the tour dates:

The mission of the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania is to attract the brightest Romanian musicians between the ages of 18-35 to create a unique creative experience in the common pursuit of musical excellence. The orchestra’s roots lay in a unique artistic and educational program, which was founded in 2008 following an initiative by cellist Marin Cazacu with the support of the Friends of Music from the Serafim Antropov Foundation.
