Our pianist Beatrice Rana was featured by The New York Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer on their top classical music choices of 2019!

The New York Times music critics released their 25 Favorite Classical Music Albums of the Year, picking Rana’s Warner Classics recording of Stravinsky’s ‘Danse Infernale’ from her October 2019 release.

Anthony Tommasini wrote: “Ms. Rana, at 26 one of the finest pianists of the new generation, is at her best on this recording, which includes solo piano transcriptions of works by Ravel and Stravinsky. The “Infernal Dance” from Stravinsky’s “Firebird” sounds blazing and demonic in this fierce, commanding performance.”

The Philadelphia Inquirers David Patrick Stearns and Peter Dobrin published their Best Classical Music Performances of 2019, featuring Rana’s performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Stearns wrote: “In June, Philadelphia Orchestra audiences had a first look at this 26-year-old Italian pianist who plays even the most finger-busting classics, such as Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, as if she’s having a personal conversation with her listeners. Not that she’s too personable to be thrilling: Witness her new Erato-label recording with Stravinsky’s excerpts from Stravinsky’s Petrushka that’s populated with vivid characters but has some of most muscular pianism out there.”
