Randall Goosby’s Decca Classics album “Roots” wins Presto Music’s Debut Recording of the Year

Randall Goosby receives praise and honors for his debut album “Roots”

Randall Goosby’s Decca Classics album “Roots” has won Presto Music’s Debut Recording of the Year for 2021. Among this most recent award, Presto Music highlights the album’s other honors including Presto Music’s Editor’s Choice in June 2021, Gramophone Magazine’s Editor’s Choice in August 2021, Diapason d’Or’s Découverte in September 2021, and Presto Music’s Recordings of the Year: Finalist 2021.

Katherine Cooper of Presto Music writes, “You only have to hear the way he phrases the first three notes of Summertime to realise this young American violinist is something special, but it’s the less familiar fare that really makes this an album to conjure with: Xavier Dubois Foley’s Shelter Island makes for an irresistible opener, the two Perlman Program alumni riffing off one another with giddy exuberance, whilst Perkinson’s Blues Forms showcases Goosby’s virtuoso chops and distinctive, glassy upper register to perfection.”
